Dutch progressive rock band formed in 1971 in Delft. Known for their eclectic blend of rock, jazz, classical, and blues influences, Alquin became a notable presence in the early 1970s European prog rock scene. Their music is characterized by complex arrangements, dynamic instrumental interplay, and the use of varied instrumentation, including saxophone and flute. The band released several albums during their initial run, including Marks (1972) and The Mountain Queen (1973), before disbanding in 1977. Alquin reunited in the 2000s for several performances and new recordings, maintaining a cult following among prog rock enthusiasts.
