Anyone who would be entertaining and enhance our listeners' experience is welcome! Artists, producers, labels, social media personalities, and more are all eligible. If you think you can keep our listeners entertained for an hour or two, email us with some information about yourself, why you want to be a Guest DJ, and what you have in mind.

How Does It Work?

Being a Guest DJ is simple—we handle the production, including adding the music. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Select Your Songs: Compile a list of 10 to 20 tracks, aiming for a mix of prog rock and optionally other genres to keep things interesting. Have fun with it—think of it as creating the ultimate "mix tape," your chance to share the music you believe the world needs to hear! You can have a theme, or not, totally up to you.  (Example themes:  "Favorite Halloween Prog Songs," "Songs That Changed My Life," "Songs I'm Currently Obsessed With," "My All-Time Favorite Prog Classics," "My 15 Favorite Prog Singers," "My Dessert Island Prog Albums," "Songs I Wish I Had Written," etc.)

  2. Record Your Audio: Create an audio file with your introductions and commentary for each track, leaving pauses where the songs will be inserted. Share personal stories, promote your latest project, and make the experience your own! Remember to acknowledge the song that just played before moving on to the next one.

Here's a simple outline of how your audio might flow:

    - Introduction: For example, "Hi everyone, I'm John Smith from The Banana Kings. I'm excited to spend the next couple of hours with you, sharing some of my favorite tracks."

    - Introduce Song 1

    - Pause [We'll insert the song here]

    - Comment on Song 1 (the song that just finished), then Introduce Song 2

    - Pause [We'll insert the song here]

    - Comment on Song 2 (the song that just finished), then Introduce Song 3

    - Pause [We'll insert the song here]

    - Continue this pattern for each song up to the last one.

    - Final Song: Comment on the previous song, introduce your final track, and mention that it’s your last song. You can also add any closing remarks, such as, "Thanks so much for letting me share these tracks with you!"

If you're a band, everyone is welcome to participate! The most important thing is to ensure your audio sounds clean by recording in a quiet space—even if you're just using your phone. And don’t worry if you make any mistakes—we will edit those out.

  3. Send Us Your Set List and Audio: Send to us at submissions@progradio.com: 1) the list of songs you included in your set, and 2) the audio file(s) with your "DJ bumps" for those songs. Your audio can be in one file (preferred), with pauses where the songs will go. Optionally, you can send individual files for each bump (less preferred but we can make this work). We’ll edit everything together, add the songs, adjust the levels, edit out any mistakes, and add reverb and effects to make you sound pro! We accept most audio formats (e.g., MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, etc.), with MP3 and WAV being the most common. For submitting your audio file(s), we recommend using a file-sharing service like Dropbox, Google Drive, or WeTransfer
