Before the release of "A Temporary State of Bliss," we at Prog Radio were unfamiliar with Residuos Mentales. This album, however, has been a very pleasant surprise, revealing a duo with a profound understanding and appreciation of progressive rock. Stratos Morianos and Alexandros Mantas, hailing from Athens, Greece, have crafted an engaging and innovative work with their latest offering. Unlike so many instrumental records, this album is anything BUT boring. It keeps moving, twisting, and surprising.

The record draws inspiration from the titans of prog rock - Camel, King Crimson, and Genesis - yet it refrains from becoming a mere echo of these influences. Instead, Residuos Mentales infuses their music with a variety of elements, from metal to funk, ensuring a fresh and eclectic sound. The result is a record that respects its roots while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of the genre. The word “fresh” definitely comes to mind when listening to this record.

Comprising four expansive tracks that span forty-four minutes, "A Temporary State of Bliss" showcases the duo's talent for composition and their flair for the dramatic. Each piece is a journey in itself, oscillating between intricate melodies and bold, experimental sounds. The interplay of Morianos's keyboards and Mantas's guitar and flute creates a rich, immersive listening experience.
