"I’ll face the inevitable ending and the fact there’ll be no curtain call. I hope they write up my performance, and the reviews are favorable" ~ C Song, Fish
7 years since his last studio release, this is the 11th and final (so he has announced) solo album by Fish, the original frontman for Marillion. Weltschmerz is a term coined by the German author Jean Paul, and in its original meaning, denotes a deep sadness about the inadequacy or imperfection of the world. So, sure, lyrically Fish can be a "Debbie Downer" on this release, but when you have what I believe is one of the best singing voices in prog, it can still warm the soul. At 84 minutes long, there’s a lot here to enjoy. So, yes, "favorable" indeed. 4 Stars.
